Young + Local: PDX

Senior Experience Designer Laura Allcorn is returning to the Pacific Northwest College of Art, her alma mater, on September 9th to participate in Young + Local: PDX Panel Discussion. The event is free and open to the public.

Smarties Awards

Creative Director Chris Cobb has an enviable task ahead of him: choosing the best mobile marketing work of the year. He is a juror for the 2015 Smarties Awards honoring innovation, creativity, and success.

ArtClix 2015

We recently launched an update to the award-winning ArtClix app we designed and developed for Atlanta’s High Museum of Art in 2011. To provide visitors with new opportunities to connect with and respond to the museum’s collection, we added video capabilities and enhanced the comments section to include the first ever museum-commissioned emojis. Red Dot & Interactive Media Awards

August has been good to us so far on the awards front. Standing out among more than 7,400 entries from 53 countries, #Trashtag, our physical installation with a digital twist, has been honored with a Red Dot Award: Communication Design! On the web, Object:Photo received Best in Class distinctions from the Interactive Media Awards in two different categories.

Congratulations to Interactive Developer Chris Carlson on a big win in the 2015 ZKM App Art Awards! Borderlands Granular, Chris’s musical instrument for the iPad, received the Special Prize for Sound Art.

New Frontier Day Lab

Technical Director Yasmin Elayat is serving as a mentor and panelist for the Sundance Institute’s New Frontier Day Lab. The event focuses on experimental non-fiction storytelling, a medium Yasmin explored in her collaborative documentary 18 Days in Egypt.

ADCC Directions 2015

Creative Director Chris Cobb is part of the Interactive judging panel for the Directions 2015 Awards. On June 12th, he’ll have the privilege of reviewing Canada’s best work in advertising, design, and interactive media.

SEGD Global Design Awards

Starting June off right, two different projects were honored with SEGD Global Design Awards! #Trashtag won both an Honor Award and the Sylvia Harris Award, and Learning to See earned a Merit Award.

100 Years of Design

100 Years of Design has been much celebrated since its launch, and it just received its most prestigious accolade to date: a Graphite Pencil in the D&AD Awards!

Awards Recap

2015 has been a big year for awards so far, and we’re ecstatic to keep adding to our mantel! First, the Times Square 4K Screen Launch project received a One Show Merit Award in the new Responsive Environments category. Then, the Communicator Awards recognized 100 Years of Design with two Gold Awards of Excellence, while My Coke Art and our work for the Center for Civil and Human Rights each received one, and Learning to See and our contributions to the National Civil Rights Museum were both celebrated with Silver Awards of Distinction. Finally, our work for Whole Foods – winner of a FAB Award in the Interiors/Environment category – received Platinum/Best in Show in the Creativity International Media & Interactive Design Awards. Object:Photo received the same honors, while the Times Square 4K Screen Launch project won Gold.

Two exciting updates on one of our most interesting recent projects: Global Crossroads for Occidental College has won a Digital Signage Award in the Education category and a gold DSE Apex Content Award in the Education & Healthcare category!

Here to There

TFI Interactive Day

At the Tribeca Film Institute Interactive Day over the weekend, we invited the audience into our Here to There experiment. Using mobile beacons, choreographed movement, and a narrative from TFIi keynote speaker Lucy McRae, the experience explored how presence, physical space, and human intervention work with wearable technology to tell a story.
