Peabody Essex Museum
This Web site reveals the diverse collection, innovative interpretation, and rich programming inside America’s oldest continuously operating museum.
Founded in 1799, the Peabody Essex Museum’s collections are among the finest of their kind. They encompass Asia, Africa, Native America, Oceania, Maritime Art, American Decorative Art, Folk Art, Photography, and Costumes. The museum campus features 23 historic properties and numerous parks and gardens in Salem, Massachusetts. Launched in concert with the opening of a suite of new galleries, this Web site helps people plan their visit, find upcoming programs, events, and exhibitions, and learn about the collections. The visual design of the site reflects the emergence of the Peabody Essex Museum as a forward-thinking, media-savvy museum—one that creates a richer experience for visitors by bringing art, architecture, and culture together in new ways.

“The site is a wonderful combination of great design and content. The collection material was very well presented and rich in scope. It represents a wealth of information that will continue to grow and change. The bookmark feature is a great addition, and this personalization of the visit will surely generate return visits.”
