Forty-three historical and contemporary physicians are featured in nine interactive installations deployed throughout an exhibition celebrating the achievements of women physicians.

Visitors are introduced to each woman in a brief, narrated overview, and can then go on to access in-depth videos of these physicians—totaling over two hours of contemporary interviews and historical biographies. Visitors can passively watch the presentation cycle from one physician to the next or touch one of the physicians featured in the periphery to skip between segments. While the video continuously plays on its own, the audio in the presentation is activated by visitors through proximity sensors.

The sphygmograph interactive uses simple computer animations to explain the operation of a very complicated medical device. The device itself is within a case. In fact, the object on display would be very difficult for visitors to understand without the use of technology. This entry is a very helpful interpretive tool for explaining an obscure but important artifact. It is a perfect example of how new media can help visitors learn in an exhibition, rather than just add noise and diversion.
