DreamWorks Records
The Web site for this record label features unique micro-sites for every DreamWorks album, where animated interactive album art immerses visitors in the sights and sounds of every record.
From pop to metal-punk, singer-songwriters to spoken word, the DreamWorks Records site turns browsing for albums into an immersive experience in motion, sound, and interaction. The site combines the nostalgia of vinyl-format album art, the instant gratification of listening booths, and the eye candy of music videos to capture the spirit of each recording’s sound and artistry. Each interactive album offers a blend of music tracks, song lyrics, visual art, and animation to site visitors. In-depth biographical information, tour dates, and links to artist sites are also available, as well as direct links to online retailers. The DreamWorks Records site developed an interactive paradigm that’s intuitive, direct, and exploratory. Just as record store patrons instinctively move to the display racks, Web users are drawn to an album features “bin” to browse what’s new, or search the complete discography of the label. The site accommodates diverse recording genres, but emphasizes creating a showcase for each recording: as users select an album, the screen is transformed into a stage for the individual artist. Animation, promotional copy, video, and music immerse users in a media-rich world custom-created for that recording. Full-screen visuals are displayed in a full-size browser window to maximize the impact and presence of each artist. Visitors can choose from three different audio formats, and every music video is streamed on demand.
